Los Cabos Communities to Get Second Nicklaus Course 0

Quivira Golf Course Los Cabos

Ground-breaking in Los Cabos Expected in Second Quarter

There’s a second Jack Nicklaus signature course coming to Los Cabos, Mexico.

The Bear’s Quivira Golf Club opened there in 2014. Now, the start of construction for a second course perched above the confluence of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean is set for the second quarter of this year.

The second course will serve the growing Los Cabos residential communities of St. Regis Resort & Residences; the exclusive new real estate community, Old Lighthouse Golf & Ocean Club; and the Alvar hillside condominiums.

“The first golf course at Quivira is a spectacular layout playing across a remarkable piece of property,” Nicklaus said. “Now, I am excited that design is well underway on the second course at Quivira, which should be stunning and equally as spectacular. I hope golfers who play the second course will enjoy the views, the quality of golf, and the challenge.”

Quivira features several holes that hang out over the water, with errant balls destined to find a watery grave among the waves crashing onshore almost 200 feet below. Quivira Golf Club is ranked among the top resort golf courses in the world.

While the routing plan for Quivira’s second course is in its final stages, it is anticipated that Nicklaus and his design team will build in the northwest area of the 1,850-acre development. The southern portion of the new layout will feature panoramic views of the Pacific and the westernmost point of the Sea of Cortez.

Quivira is situated at Land’s End on the Baja Peninsula, with more than three miles of pristine golden beaches, picturesque desert cliffs and panoramic ocean views. Access to the award-winning Quivira Golf Club is exclusive for Pueblo Bonito Resort guests and owners of property at Quivira.
