(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) Sept. 2, 2011 — GOLF magazine has named Sandia Golf Club’s on-course beverage and snack cart best in the nation in its October issue.
Says GOLF magazine’s Joe Passov in his annual compilation of various “best” this and thats:
“Forget stale cheese crackers or dry ham sandwiches. When Ashley’s beverage cart arrived on the fourth fairway at Albuquerque’s Sandia Golf Club bearing warm, rum-soacked rice pudding, I could not resist.”
“Travelin’ Joe,” the magazine’s travel editor, got it right. Not only that, Sandia’s Turn House is wonderfully fast, efficient and friendly.
Sandia’s cart people seem to know that golfers on Nos. 1 and 9, 10 and 18 don’t need anything because they’re so close to the clubhouse, so go patrol somewhere else and don’t hold up play.

Other news: Our recent post on a recent Municipal Golf Advisory Board meeting discussion of the irrigation work coming to Ladera Golf Course elicited this comment from Tim Martinez, assistant head of the City of Albuquerque’s Golf Division:
“Just a quick note: The new piece of equipment (an irrigation pump) is approximately $19,000, including installation. During the meeting, it was discussed that this piece of equipment would be paid by the 07 GO Bond fund for Ladera of $15,000 and the difference of the Invoice would be paid by the FY2011 Operational Budget. This would zero out the 07 GO Bond fund for Ladera.”
